The location was EXCELLENT. there were so many delicious options for breakfast. The food was great. the atmosphere of assured calm WAS present throughout.
The bed was horribly uncomfortable. i HAD to use the duvet for cushioning. the noise from people stomping around after midnight each night was a problem. the ac unit was not quiet. It surged.

the breakfast included live piano and violin performances, it added a touch of elegance.
The room was very small. The description mentioned a landmark view, but it only overlooked the street directly outside. i complained to reception, but i achieved no resolution. this misrepresentation was disappointing, given the expectations set by the hotel's advertising.

historical hotel stay

breakfast selectiongarden areamechanical equipment
the breakfast selections were wonderful, offering various options in multiple salons and the authentically decorated kitchen, where i ordered my hot breakfast. the maître d' was good and the live music performed by a pianist or violinist each morning created a beautiful atmosphere.. this was a magical touch to start each day. the garden area was a well-appointed oasis for relaxation.
The room i booked showed high ceilings in the pictures, yet i was checked into an attic room, something i specifically wanted to avoid. this attic room was unfortunately next to a mechanical room. The loud mechanical equipment ran constantly, disrupting my rest and sleep. the hotel did not offer a refund for this room, which i feel should not be habitable.

inconsistent housekeepingloud street noise
The room, a superior twin room, felt smaller than expected. housekeeping seemed inconsistent. One day towels weren't replaced, another day toiletries weren't replenished. the noise from the street was pretty loud, even with the windows closed. i found it hard to get a decent night sleep because of that street noise.
